so guys, just one more post after this one and we are all done.

i had hoped to show you the ornaments or the beautiful skies i've seen, but i cannot find the camera cable to download. typical, eh? instead, i want to take a minute to tell you how i feel. just how much i've appreciated you.

2008 was one of the hardest years in all of my life. and through it all, i knew i had you lot. every kind thought, feeling, comment and wish made it's way to my mind and heart and helped heal the gaping hole that was. i don't know how, i have no idea how, i would have coped, managed, or dealt with all that was thrown at me in the last 12 months without this place and without all of you. i am not a big talker, that surprises a lot of people, certainly not a big talker about me (i can, however, talk at length about trivialities, which should surprise no one). but through this little blog, i've talked and read and talked some more, all of which has helped me to think and rationalise and to understand. i have learnt so much, and hope to keep on learning.

thankyou for being my friends, however real or virtual. i hope you all have a fantastic and flourishing new year.

here's to better times in 2009. cheers!

nearly there

i really feel like i'm fighting now, fighting to get through the last few days of the year. to get into any sort of routine. fighting the urge to hibernate (man, it is freezing here. i know some people are two-feet under snow right now, but i am convinced these people have some sort of heating. ice shouldn't form on the inside of your house, that's all i'm saying. spring, anyone?). fighting the desire to pack up out of this cold house and fly back to my own cold house. i'm struggling to keep the list of things i have to do in my head. i am already dreaming (horrible dreams. i have the fear) about school, how ridiculous. i wish it were lighter outside so i could show you the other ornaments i've received in the swap (thanks guys!). for now i guess i'll have to stop resisting the urge to go to bed (the warmest place here) and go watch a dvd.

seems i am still slacking off a bit here doesn't it?

main news you need to know about, because we all need to know this, is that i started the wallpaper stripping in the new house today. i say started, as i wasn't armed with a steamer, oh no, instead, i used a credit card and my fingernails. removed the top paper from in the living room. there's a small corner left, just behind one of the huge piles of stuff so i'll make sure i'll capture it's, erm, beauty for you all to see.

oh yeah, and the shower is dreadful. seems to have two settings - scalding and freezing.

just a thought / a new challenge

now that i have my own home along with all of the bills, etc to pay, AND i am coming to the end of what has been a rather large challenge (blog365) i'd like to set myself a new challenge. a challenge that will benefit my pocket, and the (small) space i live in, as well as being good for the environment. you might even say that this is a challenge that keeps on giving... i have decided to stop buying fabric for an entire year. that's right folks, i solemnly swear that i will not purchase any fabric for the whole of 2009. i reckon that i will have to set myself some little guidelines for this challenge, so i have boundaries to work within and this is where i need your help. first up, i will open/stock an etsy shop this year in order to use up some of the fabric i have. second, all the things i make will have to be made from fabrics i already own (though i reckon i'm allowed to buy notions specifically for a job). thirdly, i reckon i should be allowed to do exchanges or swaps in which i can receive fabric so long as i make something to give in return. that's all i have (for now) which is where you come in. think these rules are fair? things i've forgotten? changes to make? let me know. all and any suggestions gratefully accepted. i'll publish my rules on the 31st.

plus of course, i reckon if you wanted to join in....

dinner's eaten, the fire is hot, we are sat about watching the flurry of christmas rubbish on tv (and let's face it, it's not really christmas without the rubbish), waiting for the genius that will be wallace and gromit "a matter of loaf and death", gavin and stacey (from last night) and the royle family christmas episode. there are no hats (someone forgot all but the tiniest crackers without prizes or hats) but i have one saved from a night out a week ago (it fit my oversized head and it was gold, so it was saved). naps have been taken, and the presents opened. just a small drink and the aforementioned tv and it'll be off to bed with another one over.

older (wednesday 24th december 2008)

(this should have posted from my mobile, and i thought it had, but technology has failed me it seems. here's how it went, as best as i can remember)

today is my 28th birthday.

i am 28 today.

28 is one of those ages that i have found a bit weird approaching. i was the same when i turned 24.

i don't know what it is about it, or why it stands out in my head, but 28 feels a bit old to me. now, don't scoff please, but i just feel a bit milestone-ish today. the thing is, i don't even feel 28, i'm told i don't look it (thanks mum! haha), but weirdest of all i don't know if i'm meant to feel it? i'm making little sense i know, it must be my aged mind. i'll leave you with my warmest merry christmas and happy new year wishes, it's been a pleasure this year. xx

settling in

i've been spending much of my time here at mum and dad's in my pjs. it's what holidays are for. roaring fires, making and decorating, wrapping presents, toasting marshmallows, catching up with friends and family, and watching films.

i've been avoiding the internet (although if this computer were better i may have been on here more), any kind of work, being miserable, and going to the shops.

updates for the rest of the year will prob be via my mobile (the ones that say 'multimedia message' as the title) as i cannot stand typing on this beast. it's taking ages to catch up with what i'm typing and i've had to re-write things more than once so that they make (some) sense. maybe a christmas present idea for next year?
